Case Study - 01

Mr. Anil has terminal cancer affecting his pelvic bones and lower spine. He has suffered severe pains in his lower back and pelvic bones that eventually made impossible for him to move even from his bed. As a result, the only comfortable position for him is to be in supine position.
He has developed stage 1 decubitus ulcers on his sacrum and on the back of his heels.  His nutritional status becomes poor including which he has also developed atelectasis in his lower lobes and is unable to secrete his cough.
Many nurses took care of him by turning him in every 2 hours to prevent further skin breakdown and respiratory distress, which is most likely to be close to death. They even felt  that decubitus ulcer and respiratory distress can cause pain and discomfort. So, they tried their best to make him release from his searing pains.
